Malaysia Trip 2008

16 to 18 Sept
as i have promised, i will post pictures about my trip to malaysia KL. a 3 days 2 nights trip.

many friends said i was mad because i actually took an aeroplane over there. furthermore, it was our own national carrier, SIA. the flight there took me about 45 to 55 mins. and it was really fast. 15 mins into the sky and before the seat turned hot, we are ready for landing. -_-'''

amazingly, i took 139 pictures over there. didn't know i have snapped so many of them. but of course, i will not be posting all of them here. wonder how long will it take to upload so many of them up here.

DAY 1

Taken onboard Boeing 777. wee. and of course that's me and my mother...

see. they even have a screen right in front of you. unlike budget air, which i have taken in april. haha. but it's for show only. they don't on it during the flight. what do you expect for short distance flight other than a cup of drink??

And..... tata. i have reached KLIA. (KL International Airport)
it's a bit unlike sg airport where you have 3 terminals and have to check in at the correct terminal in order to get onto your flight. over here, you check in at the main terminal but will take a train to the different terminals. so usually people will not check in at the wrong place.

on the cab to KLCC (KL City Center). cabby driver also drove us to this MUST-SEE place in malaysia. this is actually a new estate named PUTRAJAYA. this estate is still developing and now has all the government department offices here.

quite modern huh?? seriously, i don't expect to see this kind of estate in malaysia.

can you see a bridge behind me?? in this estate, there is like 7 or 8 different bridges of different designs. cool. and if you don't remember the name of the streets, nevermind! just remember the designs of the lamp posts on that particular street. because every street has different design of the lamp post. their designs are quite unique too. they look like 'dancing' lamp post to me.

this big and magnificant building.

it's the Petronas Twin Towers

didn't manage to capture me with the whole building. no wide view lenses. =(

next, went to the KL Telecom Tower. the 4th tallest telecom tower in the world. some say they played cheat as they built this tower on top of a hill. 421m above sea level.

these are some of the other telecom towers in the world.

and this is the telecom tower from below.

lift lobby waiting to go up the tower. look like real diamonds huh? but i overheard the conversation of a tour guide. she says it is actually made of glass. -_-'''

bird-eye's view from the tower. we actually pay RM40 per person to go onto the tower to have our lunch in the revolving restaurant. buffet lunch!! it's a level higher than the observation deck.

variety of food.

actually, i forgotten to take a picture on the food i have taken. =x so here are just some of the deserts. haha.

See hard rock cafe there?? but once you get down the tower, you can't find it...

better view of the twin towers

the ticket stub.

at the observation deck with twin towers behind me.

some pictures to tell you what the buildings are.

was rather tired and went back to the hotel. stayed at a 5 star hotel, Le Meridien, at coporate rate as my mother was suppose to go there for work instead of a holiday. service was great. they have nice deco at the main lobby and that was the 1st time a bell boy asked if i wanted any newspapers to read every morning and if we need anything else. no wonder its a 5 star.

from hotel babylon, the UK television series i watched previously.
1 star hotel: bed and toilet
2 star hotel: bed, toilet and bathtub
3 star hotel: bed, toilet, bathtub and service
4 star hotel: bed, toilet, bathtub, service and facilities
5 star hotel: bed, toilet, bathtub, service, facilities and everything you need. you name it, they provide it.

anyway, it's next to hilton hotel there. saw lots of posh cars. the hotel is rather convenient. it has a train station just opposite it and also a express train station to go to the KLIA. i also realised that the security there was rather tight. there were soldiers checking in the car boot and also beneathe the cars. so everytime we went back to the hotel, they will check once.

this was taken at times square shopping center. many reviews suggested that it was worthwhile to take a look at the COSMO theme park over there. and tata...

there were 10 storeys of shops and i mean shops. only up to 3 or 4 levels have occupants. the others were left empty. it's really different from sg. i never get to see shopping malls with a lot of vacant shops. there was also cold storage supermarket at the basement. that's where i bought bubble gums. =)

the night view of KLCC. see the telecom tower and the 'blocked' twin tower.

the cosy bedroom. bathroom looks cosy too. great place to stay. but of course there is this PRICE to pay.

the swimming pool.

my artistic photo...

malaysia's national museum

things bought from sg with those bought in cold storage at times square.

planned to have dinner at a nice steak house in the hotel but guess what?? it was fully booked due to the fasting month and also because of a company's event. so we had BUFFET AGAIN!!!! omg. but it was nicer than the one in the afternoon. the amount that we had to pay was also NICER.....

Day 2

had a delicious continential breakfast at the hotel's restaurant. it has a wide range of food for you to choose from. there are even 5 to 6 different types of tea for you to choose from.

was supposed to stay in the hotel while my mother went for work. so i took the time to sleep till 11am and to watch 'the ultimate crime fighter', a hong kong drama. i was to settle my own lunch too. but in the end, i did not order anything from the room service. was busy eating tidbits bought for the supermarket yesterday that i could not eat my lunch. =x

park opposite the hotel. looks near but in fact it's far.

swimming pool

toilet

working table with a LAN cable

SPECIAL toilet bowl in hotel room. haha. see those buttons beside it?? it can wash you butt for you. my mum tried it once the other time she came to KL. me?? i don't dare to try that. i guess it will feel quite weird. haha.

i checked my results with the internet connection there too. haha. was surprised with the results i got. my mum was back at the hotel earlier than expected. 3.30pm. and we went to Mid-valley shopping mall later. it was like vivocity. has a huge land area with 4 storeys of shops. over there, you can find all sorts of branded goods. unlike the shopping mall at times square, you can't find a vacant shop. there were lots of 'ang mohs' there too. it was rather tough to find a restaurant with empty tables for dinner because it was the fasting period and most people had booked the restaurants before hand. we took 15 mins to get to a restaurants with an empty table.

thinking that we have seen the day view of the KLCC, we planned to hop onto the KL's eye after shopping. something like our singapore flyer but it was not opened. what a disappointment. nobody updated on the website and i thought it was supposed to be opened until 11pm. we even left early from mid valleys to go there. sad. anyway the eye was much cheaper than the sg flyer. wonder why do they have to charge so much for sg flyer. a 30 mins ride costing almost 30 bucks???!!!

went back to the hotel and watched some americian television shows. nice but i forgotten the name. -_-'''

Day 3

woke up early in the morning and had our breakfast. checked out at 9.30am to go to SKF's ball bearing manufacturing factory. wooo. saw the manufacturing line. did not take any picture over there as i guessed i would be allowed to do so too. nice. now i know how they manufacture it. there are also many many different sizes of ball bearings. i thought it was any easy job. just filling the ring with little balls but then guess what? they have to measure and fill the right ball size into the rings. if not it would not rotate smoothly!! tough job for them...

this is how ball bearings looks like. used in all kinds of objects that moves, including F1 cars and machinery.

after that....

In the airport waiting to go back. wished i had stayed on 1 more day. the hotel and service was great.

took SQ117 back. another boeing 777.

me with the giant.

sat beside the wings. and every picture i took had more than 50% covered by the wing. should have asked for a seat away from the wing.

changi airport at night.

taken when the plane was landing. not suppose to do that i guess. no electronic devices when taxi-ing, landing and taking off. =x

and strangely, we landed at terminal 3. this was the 1st time i used this terminal. nice design.

the seats were comfortable too.

strange picture huh? you must be wondering why did i take this picture?? haha. look carefully. and that's SIA's A380!!!! i saw it with my own eyes and not just pictures on the net. now, how many of you have done that?? heehee. *proud...

that's the end of my 3 days trip in KL, malaysia. and tell you a secret. i have went to far away places like USA but that's my first time to KL. =x

keep you updated on the next interesting journey to MEDIACORP.... there are not much pictures thought. but an eye-opener for everyone of us who went.
