hi everyone. i have been like back for 1,2,3 days to be exact. trip to thailand was fun. shopping and walking to everywhere we could to look for clothes. clothes there are really cheap. (only those that were being sold in markets like our pasa malam) those which were being sold in shopping malls are much much expensive and i can say, you can give it all a miss if you are on budget travel like us. drinks there were dirt cheap. 15B for a bottle of coke. and 7B for a bottle of mineral water. both of which doesn't cost more than S$1. we did not eat seafood there though. not enough time. shopping and a little sight-seeing is all we did. 4 days 3 nights? should change to 5 days 4 nights. maybe the next time. so where did we stay??
we stayed at baiyoke boutique hotel. a rather newly built hotel which focuses a lot on its interior design with toilet as an exception. why did i say so? because the toilet that was in our room was so stinko. it has those smelly drain smell. breakfast was not as delicious as i had expected but still passable. the hotel was not beside the main road. it is behind baiyoke sky hotel (thailand's tallest building 84 storey) that's what the road sign says. haha. i would definitely stay at the same hotel again but would of course stay at baiyoke sky if i had more $$. so where did we go?
we went to:
-chatuchak weekend market --> you can surely find lots of things there. most of the things i had brought back were bought from there. they sell products from shirts, dresses, ear rings, shoes, bags, accessories, dogs, dogs bed, dogs clothes, paints, food, to etc..
-'small' night market beside our hotel ---> clothings and a 7-11 there.
by the way, we realised that there were lots of 7-11 there. you would see one 7-11 shop 2 to 3 buildings away.
-Dumnoen saduak floating market --> i guess we were cheated there. 500B for a 1hr 20 mins boat ride. too bad, we were driven there by a 'innocent-looking' taxi driver whom may not be innocent as it seems. but anyway i think we went there just to experience and see a different way of living over there. the people over there bath in the river and even dump their rubbish in it too.
-elephant village and monkey show --> total waste of money and time.
-snake farm --> with no snake show because they only perform once everyday. i wonder am i lucky or not. haha. i m scared of snakes...... quite disgusting to see so many snakes there. yucks.
-Mah Boon Krong shopping mall --> went to the supermarket to buy tidbits. haha. and some local thai local food to be brought back to sg.
-Siam Ocean World @ Siam paragon --> quite a nice place. there was a shark feeding session and performance of magic in the aquarium. something like underwater world but i would not compare it because it has been years ago since i went to underwater world and maybe they have made improvements already. so its not fair to compare them. =x
-Siam square --> lanes and lanes of shops. however it has no aircon but you can find lots of clothings there too. haha. shopping under the hot weather makes you sweaty.
-Suan Lom night market --> there were news that this place was closed but it hasn't. it would be a real pity to close it down because in that place, you will be able to find rows and rows of shops selling lots things. and furthermore, it operates till 10pm.
-pratinum market --> its just next to the hotel and you can find lots and lots of clothings. however if you were to buy them in big quantities, they will charge you are a cheaper rate.
-baiyoke sky hotel buffet at 78th storey --> went there and saw the whole of bangkok. nice scenery but i think it would be nicer if we visited at night but that would of course mean higher charges for the buffet. took the glass lift down to the 1st storey. cool...
-pratinum shopping mall--> lots of things like those sold in chatuchak.
and above are all the places we have visited. i have learnt lots of things through this trip.
1) ask the taxi to on meter or negotiate the price before getting onboard.
2) buy the things you want immediately, because when you say you would return to buy, you would never find the shop again. there are simply too many shops selling similar items but might not be the design you want.
3)call mr cherd next time for transport. he is a funny and cute guy. haha.
4) bargain everytime. if they say one price or don't wish to lower the price, walk away and they will call you back. (we saw ang mohs with better bargaining skills than us, singaporeans. cool.
5) do not go for the thumbprint immigration counter. i will definitely not pass it. perhaps because of my sweaty palms.
this marks the end of my very first trip out of the country without my parents. i bought 8 shirts, 4 pants, 2 bags, 1 cap, 1 belt and lots of other small small things. looking forward to the very next trip to some countries which has winter. =) i love winter. i will post pictures up here soon... i have got no cable to connect the camera to the computer.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
school's starting real soon. 2 more days. i got my 2nd pay cheque. 210 bucks. and together with the 1st pay cheque it just nice covers my accomodation and air ticket to bangkok. haha. however, still not enough to cover my expenses over there.
